INTERNATIONAL
GLOBAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION
(IGRA)
Globalization processes and problems arising from them are attracting worldwide attention. Ever-increasing interest in globalization brings together scholars and practitioners from different backgrounds, who collaborate in order to find theoretical and practical solutions to the processes of globalization and their effects.
Russian scholars have been conducting research in the field of globalization over the last forty years and we are becoming more and more conscious of the fact that research into globalization requires not only interdisciplinary approach, but also broad international cooperation. Realising the importance of the above mentioned, we are expanding our international collaborations and our aspirations have produced tangible results. For example, in 1997 we initiated a large project to prepare and publish an International Encyclopaedia «Globalistics» and an International Encyclopaedic Dictionary «Globalistics» (Russian-language and English-language editions). The project was realized in collaboration with 648 scholars and practitioners from 58 countries. In addition, we publish a scientific journal «The Age of Globalization» that features articles by scholars from across the world (brief information on these publications can be found in the attached files or at www.globalistika.ru).
Among the many scientific initiatives that should be mentioned is the International Scientific Congress «Globalistics-2009» that ran in Moscow 20-23 May 2009 and was hosted by the Faculty of Global Studies at the Lomonosov Moscow State University. It was the first and most significant scientific event devoted to all aspects of globalization in Eurasia and was attended by more than 500 scholars from 25 countries of Europe, Asia and the United States.
In accordance with the Congress’s decisions we have established the International Global Research Association (IGRA) to conduct scientific research and coordinate research and application projects. IGRA is co-founded by the Scientific and Technological Corporation «Intellectual Systems», the Russian Philosophic Society and the Faculty of Global Studies at the Lomonosov Moscow State University. IGRA has its central office in Moscow and sub-offices worldwide.
